Sample of Day Lilies 2016 #1

During the last ten years, Gardens at Waters East has hybridized more than 450 day lilies.  These day lilies exist no place else on Earth accept here at the gardens.  About half have now been given away as gifts to friends and neighbors.  Slowly they are taken over the planet – jajajjajaj

This year – 2016 – there will be only two postings of some of the blooms from these plants.  Part one and part two will have a total of twenty of the hundreds that have been hybridized – just a sampling.

Hope you enjoy these hardy plants as much as we do – this has been a long-time passion.

Your comments are always welcome.

Everything is Beautiful!!!

Everything is Beautiful

You may remember, or at one time or another, may have heard the song from many years back that stated: “Everything is beautiful in its own way”, and “beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder”.  It was written by Ray Stevens.

That song sings through my brain some days when walking StoneWater Beach at the Gardens at Waters East.  Looking down while hiking along, one can find a million different stones, plants, many pieces of driftwood, living and yes dying or even dead objects that grab attention.

This posting is “looking with a different eye” to see what is often passed by as one hikes along the shore.  Some may find beauty in everything posted today, others may find that that is not the case.  However for the sake of the song, here is what was found on recent walks.

Maybe the photos will bring moments of reflection to your mind that even surprises you - - as they did me.  The challenge is to see the beauty in the natural.

Seasonal Contrast in the Garden - South Ravine

Seasonal Contrast in the - Gardens at Waters East

Postings in this ongoing series will show the same garden “area” and “objects” at two or more different times / seasons of the year.  The contrast will offer the viewer an appreciation of the beauty found in the same spot but in different months.  Some of the photos have never been seen before, others were collected from earlier postings in order to provide the needed contrast.  Each season has its own “feeling”, has its own  beauty.

These photos are all of the South Ravine at the edge of the gardens.  Winter, Spring, Summer, and Autumn are all here for your viewing pleasure.

Enjoy
