Day Lilies - July 2021

Here are a few of the many day lilies blooming in the Gardens at Waters East, located on the shores of Lake Michigan.  So many, so very many now blooming this month of July!

All of them are very special since they exist nowhere else on Earth.  They were all "created" hybridized here at the gardens.  In a future posting,  I will post others that were gifts to the garden from friend – they too are very pretty.  You will see!

Hope to post more of these in the future, so many living here.

A July Day at the Arboretum

Recently I took a hike at the University of Wisconsin Arboretum in Madison. Once again, took way too many photos!  Here are only a few from the day spent walking the grounds of this very important place.

The arboretum is designated by the National Park Service as a National Historic Landmark for its foundational work in ecological restoration.  It has over 300 native wildflowers, grasses and sedges. There are deciduous forest trees, conifer trees, wetlands, prairie restoration, and so much more to experience.  All total, there are more than seventeen miles of trails.

Bark on trees always fascinates me -

more of that to come in an upcoming post.

A day well worth the time.  Wonderful to be there!

Even the bugs were enjoying the place!

Celebrating the 4th of July at the Gardens at Waters East

July 4th weekend at Gardens at Waters East

HOT! HOT!  HOT!  That was the weather while working in the gardens over the holidays.  However the views of Lake Michigan, even in such heat are always cooling and calming while in the garden.

Here are a couple photos taken at this time.

Enjoy

Blade is getting a little more modest coving in vines!

The best shot I could get of the "Ghost Spider",

blending in berry well!
