In Your Face #6

In Your Face!!!

Me, me, me.  Look at me.  No, look at me.  Better yet, skip all those and look at me!  Walking through the Gardens at Waters East, one almost hears this constant refrain.  Every plant wants attention.  Every bloom is screaming – “I’m so beautiful just look at me!”  In many cases they are right.  Take a look at some of the beauties basking in the sun and calling to be the center of your attention. Checkout the detail of some of the garden residents.

All of these “portraits” were take here in the gardens.  Self centered though they may be, the flowers do make you stop and stare.  They seem to be doing “their thing” just for you.  So why not indulge them for a few moments while walking the paths.

Here then are photos for this posting
pause a moment - - - really slow down and pause a moment

even if you only pick one or two of the photos - pause a moment
Enjoy

StoneWater Beach - 2nd. Walk

The shore that runs along the property of Gardens at Waters East is known as StoneWater Beach.  Obviously that means – lots of stones, from small rocks to large boulders that rest at the water’s edge.   Forms and textures of every kind make up the limestone, granite, fossils of various sizes.  A great place on a Great Lake to walk and past the day.

This posting is a very short “sample” of all the photos taken while walking the beach over the years.  Nice to have the lake so close.  Nice to be able to enjoy it so often.

Special Note:  This is the beach where all the stones were collected by the Guatemalan artist – Rivera,  and made into a special sculpture “Reborn” for the Gardens at Waters East.  If you want to check it out, that sculpture was posted recently on the Blog on July 16, 2014.

Come along on a walk with me.

Enjoy

Want a "Quickie" ? Today 7.22.14

(All “Quickies” are photos taken and posted the same day)
These photos were taken today at the Gardens at Waters East. - - 7.22.14.  The title of this posting could easily be “Mix of Colors”.  At noon, in visiting the gardens, it was easy to find so many combinations of colors.  After taking more than fifty photos, these few were chose to share as a sampling of what is blooming at this time of year, this very day, here along the shores of Lake Michigan.  There was  a lot of haze today which is being caused by the wildfires in the states of Washington and Oregon, 2000 west of the gardens and is drifting here.
Enjoy the colors

Original Sculpture - by Rivera

In the last published posting for Gardens at Waters East  (7.7.14), it was mentioned that a more compete description of the process and creation of the original sculpture shown would be given in this the next posting for the garden Blog.

The Sculpture - has been placed in the path on the way to the lake.

Here then is the original sculpture “Reborn” (Renacer) created by the Guatemalan artist – Rivera.  The stones were all collected by the artist on StoneWater Beach, the private beach of Gardens at Waters East, brought up the bluff, then placed in three iron circles, using a different design in each ring.  The following photos are of the process from collecting to final design.

Hope you enjoy your visit today and the work of Rivera.

(note: there is symbolism in the arrangement and design of the beach stones)

The artist named the sculpture “Reborn” because as he said, the stones were originally destined to spend their lives on the beach as simple plain stones not seen by many.  However they now have “new life” as a sculpture where they will be viewed by all who visit the gardens.  They now have a new destiny as art that has a voice and speaks to the creative in all of us.
