Want a Quickie Today? 10.23.12

“Quickies”

(All “Quickies” are photos taken and posted the same day)
These photos were taken just today at the Gardens at Waters East. - - 10.23.12

Though Lake Michigan is only 280 feet from the patio, it was never visible today.  The waves hitting the beach were easy to hear, but no view of the lake since the fog was absolutely as dense as “pea soup”.  The remaining Fall colors were muted, the air still, and the fog wrapped itself around everything.  The whole day offered itself as a time of reflection and inner journey.

What's Left?

Over the last couple of days, Gardens at Waters East has cut back many of the perennials throughout the thirteen garden rooms.  Sure was lots of work, lots of work.  Now that it is finished two things stand out:  1. The gardens look so much smaller without all the flowers here and there.  2. The remaining bushes have beautiful colors that were hidden by all the tall perennials and now have a chance to come into their own.  Some beautiful Fall colors.

Here are a few of the photos taken as the gardens were being cut down for the Winter season.  If you want to see more of what was here only a few short weeks ago, look at any of the Blog Shots posted in past archives.

Enjoy

September - Review 2012

Lots was still going on in the Gardens at Waters East this past September.  As usual, it is really difficult to choose only a few photos to capture the month here in the gardens.  So many to choose from!  All the following photos have never been posted before today.

Starting on September 1st with the clouds from the northern edge of Hurricane Isaac just above the gardens at sunrise that morning, then moving on through the month, many plants were continuing to “do their thing”.  Yet the fact is, September is the transition month from Summer to Fall.  Temperatures are changing and cooler nights are now common.  The end is near!

Enjoy the photos --- a review of September in the Gardens at Waters East.
