Coldest Days !!!

There are days that are really COLD even here at the lake which is usually warmer than inland.  But a few of the last days of December were so cold!  You can almost feel the cold as you look at the photos here – see the steam coming up off the water forming into clouds.  That is a sure sign that it is very cold.  Each of these days the temperature started each morning at  -17C to -21C and never got much warmer during the rest of the day.

I thought that was it for the coldest part of our winter, then I woke up this morning at, it was 3F (-16.11 C ) and the weather station said it would be below 0 F (-17.78 C )for a few days this week. It is cold and this morning the sunrise looks like it did in December!!!  I’ll have to post a few photos of the weather I like in a couple of day – flowers and sunshine!!!

This is a wonderful place to visit, for sure more than once.  There are a variety of programs both indoor and outdoor summer though winter offered during the year.  The gardens consist of 47 acres with more than 85,000 plants.  

When visiting you will find a great selection of everyone’s favorites – roses -   and so much more. There are many walkways and secluded rest areas, sculptures, and “follies”. It is really a nice place and such an asset for a smaller city.  It is 100% community supported making it a place of pride for the whole community.

 

Enjoy this small sampling of the gardens.

There is so much more to experience when you get the chance for a visit.

LOOKING - - - UP

I don’t know about you, but I must admit that I often am so focused on the plants and blooms all around me as I walk the paths in the Gardens at Waters East that I miss what is happening above me.  This posting will be photos from the Gardens at Waters East - - looking up.

Clouds here on the shore of Lake Michigan are special because of the reflection from the lake, vapors from the water, and the blue of the lake.  Like every cloud – they are momentary, passing, forming and reforming - - -  then gone.  Their time for “being” comes then goes – like life. Enjoy the moments you see them, which can remind all of us to enjoy and appreciate all of our own moments - they too will pass – gone forever.
