Seasonal Contrast in the Garden #16

Seasonal Contrast in the - Gardens at Waters East

Postings in this ongoing series will show the same garden “area” and “objects” at two or more different times / seasons of the year.  The contrast will offer the viewer an appreciation of the beauty found in the same spot but in different months.  Some of the photos have never been seen before, others were collected from earlier postings in order to provide the needed contrast.  Each season has its own “feeling”, has its own beauty.

This posting is of the “Viewing Stone” placed at the entrance to the Asian Garden Patio.  In the Asian garden experience, one often finds a stone here or one over there that is raise up closer to the viewer so that its features stand out and are noticed by the passerby.  Thus a “viewing stone”.

NOTE: Since it has been snowing on and off all day today - and since I just returned from five weeks in Central American where it was a lot warmer, I thought I needed to post a few photos of what it looks like here in the "nice" weather.  Do enjoy and I will be posting photos of some of the interesting  wild flowers I found along the paths I walked each morning in Guatemala.

In Your FACE #8

Me, me, me.  Look at me.  No, look at me.  Better yet, skip all those and look at me!  Walking through the Gardens at Waters East, one almost hears this constant refrain.  Every plant wants attention.  Every bloom is screaming – “I’m so beautiful just look at me!”  In many cases they are right.  Take a look at some of the beauties basking in the sun and calling to be the center of your attention. Checkout the detail of some of the garden residents.

All of these “portraits” were take here in the gardens.  Self centered though they may be, the flowers do make you stop and stare.  They seem to be doing “their thing” just for you.  So why not indulge them for a few moments while walking the paths.

The Tree 2015 #2

This is the second in the series – The Tree – Scotch Pine

In the posting last month (February), some of the basic information on this special tree was written: when planted, where planted, why planted, plant information and special design and trim information, etc.

This month, special attention is being paid to the bark of the Scotch Pine.  Look at the texture and color.  Those are attributes that add interest to this pine here at the Gardens at Waters East.  Since it is located in the Asian Patio Garden where the dinning table in that patio is so close to the tree – visitors get to see up close the beauty and interesting patterns of the trunk of this Scotch Pine.

This is a photo taken this afternoon - March 7, 2015

As the Spring and Summer progress, you will see the numerous and various planting that cluster about the base of this tree and surrounding area.  Photos of these plants will be in upcoming postings.
