IN YOUR FACE - #14

In Your Face!!!

Me, me, me.  Look at me.  No, look at me.  Better yet, skip all those and look at me!  Walking through the Gardens at Waters East, one almost hears this constant refrain.  Every plant wants attention.  Every bloom is screaming – “I’m so beautiful just look at me!”  In many cases they are right.  Take a look at this Tardia plant.  Beautiful shade of yellow – and the detail inside the bloom.

Self centered though they may be, the flowers do make you stop and stare.  They seem to be doing “their thing” just for you.  So why not indulge them for a few moments while walking the paths.

Here then are photos for this posting
pause a moment - - - really slow down and pause a moment
see the detail

Enjoy

A little too close!

One final look.

Autumn Colors #5 - Parfrey's Glen

The first photo is of the marker about this special area – the glen.  The first of its kind for this state and now there are 681 such designated areas in Wisconsin. This glen is a cool, damp, and often foggy or misty deep ravine, a great place to spend a hot summer day.  There are a number of super large rock (from the last glacier period 11,000 years ago) that need to be climbed in order to reach the waterfalls at the end.  The walls of the glen are sandstone, with striations of various geological periods. The walls were formed 500 million years ago when the area was covered by an ocean.

This special habitat is almost a museum of rare and threatened plants, insects, and birds.

Going deeper and deeper into the glen.

Mom and baby along the way, taking a break.

The rocks / boulders are BIG!

Finally eating the Falls.

Walking back down the trail to the entrance.
