THE TREE 2015 #5

This is the fifth in the series – The Tree – Scotch Pine

Basic information on this special tree was written in the February posting: when planted, where planted, why planted, plant information and special design and trim information, etc.

Then two months ago, March, there were a number of photos posted on the bark of this Scotch Pine.  As you saw in those pictures, the bark is interesting with all the texture and pealing that occurs up and down the trunk.

This photo was taken early in the month of May after the last month's posting.

It shows the hosta beginning to take shape - very developed from the last posting.

This was taken two weeks ago.

The posting last month focused on the ongoing Spring and those plants emerging from around the base of this chosen tree.  If you compare this month’s posting to last month’s you can see a definite development in the plants. The many shades of green, the textures, and the forms from the leaves, are all beginning to take shape. All of these variations add to the visual “texture” of this Asian Garden Patio area.  All hopefully complimenting one another - - and THE TREE.

Guatemala Flowers - just a few

Being a country in Central America, one can expect to see many many beautiful flowers while out visiting family homes and botanic gardens.  Here are only a few of the many plants that caught my attention while visiting Guatemala in April.

I found this a most interesting plant - in color and form.

It was at the residence of friends I visited.

Anyone have any idea what it is called?

There are hundreds more that could be posted.  These give you the range of beauty found living happily in a country that is often referred to as The Land of Eternal Spring

StoneWater Beach 4th. Walk

The shore that runs along the property of Gardens at Waters East is known as StoneWater Beach.  Obviously that means – lots of stones, from small rocks to large boulders rest at the water’s edge.   Forms and textures of every kind make up the limestone, granite, fossils of various sizes.  A great place on a Great Lake to walk and past the day.

This posting is a very short “sample” of all the photos taken while walking the beach over the years.  Nice to have the lake so close.  Nice to be able to enjoy it so often.

"Weeds" of Guatemala

On a recent trip to Guatemala I snapped photos here and there while out walking paths in undeveloped areas just outside Guatemala City.  Here are some of those photos.  These would be considered “weeds” to the local residents.

In some cases I have bought plants like these for the Gardens at waters East here in Wisconsin at local nurseries – in Guatemala they grow wild anywhere and everywhere.  A few zones to the South can make a difference in what is thought of as a “weed”.

These photos were taken in a walk around the Gardens at Waters East. - - 5.21.15.  This was another beautiful day here in the gardens – warm and sunny 78F.  That is warm for this time of year so close to Lake Michigan.  Here are eight photos from this afternoon.

Seasonal Contrast in the - Gardens at Waters East

Mid - June
