ART: Impressionism #1

Impressionism: - - Manet, Monet, & Me

An ongoing series of “art” photos:

Gardens at Waters East  calls these pictures -  “Impressionism”.  Here there is a play of color and light.  Here too is expressed inner energy and contemplation.  Photos from the garden can easily be “adjusted” to make very “impressionistic” like paintings.  These can be used in a variety of ways from note cards to letter heads and more.  This is another way of viewing your work and efforts in the garden as “art” and beauty.  Again, these would make interesting note cards.

Enjoy

This is the original photo from the Gardens at Waters East
taken through a window during a rain storm.

This photo is a small section of the above original photo in a "soft" mode

This is another section of the original photo "softened".

ART: Abstract Expressionism #1

Abstract Expressionism – “art for art sake

An ongoing series of “art” photos:

The photos here are in the style of abstract impressionism, wherein the emotion is the thing.  Much like the work of Pollock, Sato-Leui, Zampedroni, and others;  these pictures release unconscious creativity through the use of colors, shapes and lines.  The following photos were all taken at Gardens at Waters East.  Each original photo is followed by the exact same photo, only with a change to the computer settings “making” an abstract expressionism “painting”.  The final product is interesting.

The possibilities are unlimited.  Just a slight adjustment as the photo is “saved” in the computer makes the variations never ending.  It is another way of viewing the garden with a creative eye.  This is a great “project” when the gardener can not be out in the dirt.  These dual photos also make great note cards that are given out to visitors at Gardens at Waters East.

Enjoy

WANT A "QUICKIE" ? - TODAY

“Quickies”

(All “Quickies” are photos taken and posted the same day)
These photos were taken just today at the Gardens at Waters East.  It seems that each and every morning the sunrise is different and beautiful.  These were all taken at 6:44AM this morning.  All within a minute.  Sunrises over Lake Michigan are something to behold.

Even during the long cold Winter months,
there is much beauty from the very first moments of the day.

Enjoy

Groundhog Blizzard

Groundhog Blizzard

WOW, talk about a snow storm.  Beginning on January 31st with light snow falling all day, the storm continued through February 1st and 2nd.  Gardens at Waters East picked up 19.7 inches of snow.  This storm was not part of the “big” storm that affected so much of the United States over those days.  That storm went south of this area and stretched across so many states.

This storm came in off of northern Lake Michigan as that “big” storm was moving along south of the lake.  The winds here were at a sustained 30-35 miles an hour; hour after hour after hour, with gust up to 50 miles an hour.  Snow piled up and up and up.  It then blew away at times only to build up again.  The “sculptures” formed by the advancing then retreating snows were beautiful.

As was true for the “big” storm far south of Gardens at Waters East, everything also came to a standstill in this area; stores were closed, schools closed, business closed, roads closed.  It really was too dangerous to venture out.  There were plenty of warnings issued to stay home.

Beginning to Clear

These photos can only give a hint of the intensity of this storm.
It is hard to capture the feel of the wind and the swirls of the snow.
Whiteout conditions existed throughout the days.

Morning of the Third Day

On the good side; the increased depth of the snow from this storm is great for the Gardens at Waters East.  Not only does the snow ensure more moisture in the soil come Spring, but the layer of snow acts as an insulation over the soil so that the roots are protected from any freezing and thawing that would occur on sunny days.  Such thawing and refreezing again and again, causes much root damage in this zone.  So the storm is not all bad news!
