Iris of 2011

Iris in the Gardens at Waters East

The following photos show some of the Iris that bloom in different gardens here at the lake.  There are Dwarf Iris, Miniature Iris, German Bearded Iris, and Siberian Iris. Included are close up shots which were recently requested by some readers of this Blog.  The blooms are so short lived, but oh so beautiful.  The last of the Iris finished blooming this weekend, so here is a review of the 2011 season.

  2. Hi these are really amazing. I read in your comment in Autumn Belle's that you bred lilies. Breeding is such a wonderful hobby which i would also like to do, if only i am living in my own place and not in some hi-rise near work.

  3. All these ireses are beautiful in their own way. Since I am Russian, Siberian iris is my favorite. I remember it growing wild near my Grandma's house in the Russian Far East.
    Thanks for the pictures!

  4. So many many different Irises, all so beautiful. We don't have these lovely flowers in my part of the world. I had expected the bearded Iris to have some kind of a beard, but I don't think I can see any!

  16. Your photographs are so beautiful. I love irises, but I do not have as many as you have. You asked before about Sustainable Living, and if it is a part of my daily life, and yes, here in Sweden we are all affected by it, less or more. I have a lot to learn about it but we are trying to recover and recycle as much as possible.
Have a great day. / Hans
