Wyalusing State Park

Wyalusing State Park (2674 acres) a Munsee-Delaware Native American word meaning “home of the warrior” sits at the junction of the Mississippi River and the Wisconsin River.  Bluffs along this area of the rivers tower 500 – 600 feet above the rivers.

At least fourteen different native American tribes lived or visited here, leaving many sacred burial grounds. This is a place of many and various plants, birds, geological formation, rock carvings etc.  Great place for hiking! Did lots of that this day. The woods and trails are beautiful.

On this past January 24th  I did a posting on Nelson Dewey State Park which is located about ten miles south of Wyalusing.  You can check that park out by going back on this blog.  Both parks are close to each other and both located on the bluff areas along the Mississippi River.

Enjoy your time here.

    1. It is a great place to hike. This is the second time I have been there. Last time was many many years ago, so it all seemed pretty "new" to me.

  8. If I would have waited another week, the many colors of the Autumn season would have been everywhere. However the photos give a hint of how beautiful this part of the state of Wisconsin is all along the Mississippi River. Glad you enjoyed.
