DAY LILIES. 2022 #1

This year as in years past, the daylilies at the Gardens at Waters East are blooming like crazy!  Over the years I have hybridized so many, now have more than 550 plus different daylilies.  I keep promising myself to stop this obsession but to no avail!. When they are in full bloom as they are in July and August, I see possibilities to create a new plant with a different bloom, so I hybridize even more. I am thankful that some of my friends have taken many back to their own homes.  The problem is – that gives me more open soil space to hybridize and plant even more new creations!

Enjoy this blog posting of some of this year’s blooms.  I will do a second and a third posting since I have more than enough to do many posting of these “babies” of mine.

ENJOY

    1. Anke, I think so too! So many varieties here. I wish they lasted more than one day, but one day is more than no days. Today it is so very humid here that I will stay in the house and appreciate them form inside.

    1. They are one of mine too! Especially the ones that I "created" hybridized here at the gardens. Sort of my "children" JAJA.

  4. Hello, :=) How clever of you to Hybridise so many of these beautiful Day Lilies.
It is a pity they are so short lived, but they look splendid when in bloom. Good for you!:=)

    1. Yes, short lived but beauty for a day. Lucky if we have even one day of beauty in our lives.

  7. Gorgeous flowers and the lake view of the last photo. I admire your skill to create your own day-lily hybrids!
In one of the comments you write it's very humid. What kind of temperatures you have now? We have now an unusually cool period. About 3 - 4 C at night and only 10 - 11 C during the days. :)
    Stay well!

  8. Here it is still warmer than your area. At night 17.2 to 20 C. During the day 26.6 to30 C. It is the humidity that for me is the KILLER! Seeing the lake. makes me feel a little cooler on the hot days. We will get cooler days and nights in October.
