Seasonal Contrast in the Garden #8 - - Buddha

Seasonal Contrast in the - Gardens at Waters East

Postings in this ongoing series will show the same garden “area” and “objects” at two or more different times / seasons of the year.  The contrast will offer the viewer an appreciation of the beauty found in the same spot but in different months.  Some of the photos have never been seen before, others were collected from earlier postings in order to provide the needed contrast.  Each season has its own “feeling”, has its own  beauty.

Enjoy

Windy & Cold

(All “Quickies” are photos taken and posted the same day)
These photos were taken this morning at the Gardens at Waters East. - - 3.20.13
This is suppose to be the first day of Spring – doesn’t seem like it to me!!  It is like the middle of Winter.  However even with this cold day and the snows of yesterday, there is beauty in the gardens.  Notice all the wonderful patterns formed by the snow on plants and stone.   - - -   A feast for the eyes in design.
Enjoy

Winter Hike - Snow & Ice - Watershed #10

Here are a few photos from recent hikes along the shores of Lake Michigan at a state park north of Gardens at Waters East in and area known as Whitefish Dunes.  It is one of the great places to see some of the Niagara Escarpment, an unique rock formation running from Niagara Falls over the top of the Great Lakes then out to the state of Iowa.
(For more information, facts, and photos of this interesting rock formation see the archives:  - - Watershed #6  - - July 21, 2012)

Lake Michigan Shore

A couple of the photos posted today show the same area “with” and then “without” the snow of recent storms.   This gives you a study in contrast hiking along the shore.

Enjoy you day in the park!

Broken Ice Art

Small sections of broken ice in the Asian Patio Garden, when looked at closely, reveal interesting “art”.  A few moments spent looking down can take your breath away at the details, lines, forms, the natural art found underfoot while crossing the gravel patio.

Here are a few recent photos of the final days of Winter as seen in miniature ice sculptures in the Gardens at Waters East.

Enjoy the beauty of the small and the ordinary.

Here is one last photo for today.  Looking sixty feet down over the bluff onto StoneWater Beach on the shores of the Gardens at Waters East, even there along the shore, is a great "art" pattern in ice and water.
