The Ice Age Trail

 Hiking part of the Ice Age Trail – Door County

 

Spent part of a midsummer day checking out what is blooming on the Ice Age Trail.  This is only a small section of the more than 1000 mile trail crossing Wisconsin. This section is just north of the gardens about 15 miles.

 

A great day enjoying the out-of-doors.

 

 

 

More than flowers!!!

 At times the garden is about more than plants!

 

So far this year the gardens have offered us more than just the plants and blooms.  There have been Fox, American Eagles, vultures, hawks, birds of all kinds.   Some birds passing through and many staying to nest.  There is so much more to the gardens this time of year.

Doe with one fawn.

It is common for a deer to have one or two babies in the Spring.

It is very unusual for a Doe to have triplets!

Had to take two pictures,  couldn't believe there were three!

White Pelicans - flying over the gardens this morning,

as I was posting for the Blog today.

Over the last eight years they started to migrate here for the summer,

originally from the Virginia and the East Coast.

 Arizona Visitors

This week my sister and her husband from Phoenix Arizona came to visit (and no doubt get away from the “Heat Dome” happening in the western USA).  Every day for weeks now 110F. + way too hot for humans!!

 

They were the first to see the new garden pond we have.  Designing and digging it in the last two weeks took hours of work. The depth of it and the fitting of the pond mold was lots of work. More of that in a future posting.

 

Here is a first look at it.  Still have many plants to position in the right places. This is a hint of what it will look like.
